Gothic sunbathing

When Channel 4 first launched in the very early 1980’s, it was only on for a few hours every evening, had about 3 adverts on repeat, and had a very limited range of programmes.   I do remember however, that the week-day early evening dinner time slots were filled with re-runs of American comedies from the 50s and 60s.  And so, my generation were introduced to mixed delights such as Mr Ed, The Munsters, Bewitched and I Dream of Jeanie.  But none – none – could hold a candle to the sublime Addams Family.    Every character was perfect – and Carolyn Jones was the most glamorous vision who has ever adorned a wicker chair…
